Niagara Health Navigator, A first in digital health for Ontario. In collaboration with technology partners IDENTOS Inc for Digital Identity & Access Management, and nCipher (previously Thales) for Hardware Security - Niagara Health (NH) is announcing their in-year delivery and multi-year program for the highly anticipated Niagara Health Navigator. The mobile application is Ontario’s first digital health ecosystem designed to protect patient privacy and security while connecting patients to their health data, care providers and innovators for secure, convenient, single-sign on access to digital health services in the region. “We’re thrilled to kick-off a project that will redefine patient care. With 60% of patients treated by multiple caregivers yearly, this project brings real-time access to critical health information in one single view for use by patients and those in their circle of care. ” Sime Pavlovic, CIO, NH. Link to video: https://youtu.be/Wy-EFkUY7JQAccess to our healthcare data and digital health solutions have generally lagged due to challenges authenticating patients, managing consent, and governing health data. Mike Cook, CEO, IDENTOS Inc. explains, ”Traditional Identity and Access management solutions have been designed for siloed enterprise deployments perpetuating password fatigue for users. This creates challenging privacy, governance and Interoperability issues that stifle digital innovation in healthcare - but it doesn’t have to anymore. By putting patients and privacy first, the Niagara Health Navigator accelerates digital access programs, helping leaders like NH ramp up digital innovation with various internal and 3rd party digital apps and services."While the project is a clear commitment to patient care in the Niagara region, the vision for Niagara is much broader. “... the successful rollout of this project would prove how digital healthcare can be delivered effectively at scale for all Ontarians.” - Sime Pavlovic, CIO, NH. A promising way forward in digital transformation for Ontario, NH is also onboarding digital health innovators within the new ecosystem. “We are open to partnership and collaboration. We hope other hospitals and digital service providers that take notice will participate. We have an opportunity to demonstrate change and look forward to working with everyone.” - Sime Pavlovic, CIO, NH.
